Our First Year Wedding Anniversary

My beautiful wife Stephanie and I celebrated out first year wedding anniversary by enjoying ourselves on a 4 night cruise to Cozumel Mexico.

It was quite a trip to say the least. We have been working hard on the etsy store Posh Love and the sales have really been picking up for us. So when the gap of the anniversary was coming up we were trying to plan out what to do. The decision to do the cruise kind of just made the most sense. We wanted to travel international but don’t have our passports yet, so with the cruise all we needed was ID and birth certificate.

We had planned on leaving home at around 11am to get to the port with plenty of time to not have to worry about anything, that didn’t go quite as planned for us. Spent the whole morning packing up orders and getting to a point of worrying if we were going to miss the boat, literally, I had to call the cruise line to find out the latest we could arrive so that we had time to finish up our orders. I find out after a call that we just need to be there 1 hour before departure which meant 3:00pm, meaning we had to leave the house no later then 1:30pm.

I was starting to worry, because things were looking bad for us, our bags were packed but we needed to finish the orders. So the stars above blessed us and our energies aligned to create a flow of teamwork between us that we had never achieved before. Orders were getting put together and boxed up faster then I think we have ever done. Once we got to where we needed we showered, got dressed, and loaded up the car with our luggage. While grabbing our bags I made sure to have the folder I use for our birth certificates and vital records with us, I thought to myself that I didn’t needs Serenity’s information with us because it might cause confusion and didn’t want to lose anything more then we needed with us, so I took what I thought was her birth certificate out and load up the car.

Happy as can be we start the car and our journey to Tampa Florida to get on a big ol’ cruise line to be worry and stress free for 4 days. Drive down to the port was smooth and easy with no traffic. I took a little timelapse video with the gopro, we were laughing and excited with this vacation.

Arriving at the port parking wasn’t as clear as I would have liked. Was trying to follow the signs to the parking garage for the cruise line but ended up in a dirt parking lot. “Oh well” I thought I didn’t really care that much, just wanted to get on the boat and relax. They have a nice little shuttle where they grabbed our bags for us loaded us up and took us right to the terminal to get our boarding pass.

Wow this is getting awfully long for just the first day. Maybe I’ll come back and write more another time, idk.

I’m going to cut it short, the lady in charge of the safety speech seemed to be a little aggressive and power hungry because she demanded that everyone stop talking or else we won’t start and was very insistent that this was for only for our safety only, typing it out doesn’t have the same feeling of what she was expressing, what it felt like she was saying was “this is for your safety only and I don’t give a shit about any of you or this speech”

So we quietly waited, until every on got quite and she repeated herself about this is for our safety and nothing else. Then i think after about 15-20 minutes they finally got started so they could get over with it. Once it was done, we got ourselves some Pina Coladas because really now what else are you going to drink on a hot cruise deck.

Rest of the first day was fine we ate some food after the safety speech at the buffet, and then wondered around until the site down dinner where we met our dinner friends Kevin and Robin.

The second day was a day at sea, and I had been on i think 4 cruises before that, but this day was getting a little choppy waters and shortly after trying to each a brunch because we slept in from being exhausted from a week of overtime to try and get things done, I was feeling a little nausea, so I tell Steph that I wanted to go back to the cabin because if I was going to get sick i did not want to be far from a bathroom. I lay down and watch some TV and Steph went to the shop to get me some Dramamine. well laying down and the rocking of the boat I take a nice little nap but before i fall asleep I let Steph know to go out and have fun that she didn’t have to wait here for me. I think she came back about 2.5 hours later and i was feeling better. We walk around the boat and enjoy our time together until it was dinner time.

We get to the second night dinner and i was just feeling all out of it, even though I had taken a nap i was still super tired. Steph wasn’t too happy that I was tired already at 8:30 even after a nap. So I order a coffee to help me get the energy going. After downing the cup of coffee I just was only a tiny bit better and I’m wondering why the hell am i so sleepy. Then it hit me, the Dramamine must cause drowsiness. So I ask everyone at the table, and my suspicion was confirmed. After knowing that I stopped with the alcohol drinks so that i wouldn’t just passout or something crazy. After enjoying a delicious dinner, of which the food was delicious everynight, we joined Kevin and Robin for a show at the comedy club. It was a blast, I hadn’t seen any comedian stand up live before and it was something that I wanted to do for a while now. After some great laughs everybody was tired like me so we went back to our cabins to get some rest because the next day was the port day at Cozumel.

We didn’t book any excursions and figured that we would walk off the boat and figure out something to do, walking through the shops we get to the taxi area and find out there is a Mayan ruins nearby so I got excited and we got in a taxi to go see it. The taxi service was pretty good, It was a little tour that the diver would take you to, then after the ruins it takes you to a tequila tasting, where i bought and probably overpaid, a bottle of 7 year aged true 100% agave tequila and i can not wait to enjoy it. After the ruins and the tequila tour we end up back at the port and are pretty hungry so we go to the restaurant right there and have a margarita and some food. Taking some lovely pictures with our time on shore and after eating some great food, we decide that we were done for the time being and head back on the boat. We then go back to our cabin and take another nap, and naps are so good when nothing is there to wake you up for no good reason. After the nap we go to dinner again and enjoy the evening together.

The last day at sea was once again choppy, but this time I was able to handle, and after spending some time in the jacuzzi and eating breakfast and lunch Steph tells me to basically give her 15-20 minutes in the cabin and for me to wonder around taking pictures or something. So I did that and came back and she still “wasn’t ready” so I wander around some more and take all the pictures I could thing to take and come back to a room that she decorated with Polaroids that she had taken on the ship so far, balloons, fake rose petals, and little electric tea lights. She is so thoughtful and creative when it comes to these things that it puts be to shame in a big way. I thought I could get the cruise line to do something for us but they only have packages that you have to pay for and I was basically out of money and felt bad that I couldn’t achieve what i wanted for her.
